Teens and young adults may minimize or romanticize abuse, and interpret jealousy, possessiveness, and abuse as signs of love. This makes them vulnerable because they do not instinctively define abuse as a problem.

Teens rarely tell or seek help from adults.

Families and victims need to recognize the warning signs of abuse as well as the safest way to end a dangerous relationship.
